Basho Japanese Brasserie

A little while ago, the fiance and I went on a little date to Basho, a modern Japanese brasserie tucked right behind Fenway Park. The inspiration was a Groupon that he had bought a little while ago  … we’ve been on a sushi groupon kick since I’m a big fan of sushi and am in constant search for better sushi places in the Boston area.

For dinner, we ordered the Crunchy Roll and the Sushi + Sashimi platter. Everything was amazingly fresh and flavorful – I especially loved the mango sauce on the crunchy roll … I’ve never seen mango used in sushi before, and it was a great flavor complement to the rest of the roll! Not to mention everything was beautifully presented and was as pretty to look at as it was a delightful to eat!

Sushi & Sashimi Platter (Chef’s selection)

Overall, a lovely dinner date – and a great groupon experience. The only thing that could have been better is if we had the foresight to purchase more than one groupon when the offer was available! I have a feeling that we’ll have to return here to satisfy my next sushi craving…
